Category Archives: Birthday Parties
Have you ever been to a company party where everyone struggles to make polite conversation? It’s a pretty common occurrence when your company chooses to have the party in a venue where there is nothing to do but talk. Have your corporate holiday party or event at Planet Bowl. We have several party rooms you can use and engage in the fun activity of bowling. Here are some tips for making it happen.
Choose a Date
Our party rooms fill up fast for the holiday season, so set your date as early as possible. You’ll want to make sure key members of your staff as well as lower-level employees can be on hand for your event. Letting them know when to come well in advance of the date can ensure a higher turnout and a more relaxed party atmosphere.
Determine Projected Attendance
Many companies make holiday party attendance mandatory. If you do, you should already know how many people are coming. If not, send out invitations and make it clear you expect employees and other guests to RSVP. Since not everyone who attends may decide to bowl, they also need to let you know if they will be bowling.
Decide How Long to Bowl
Your fee for bowling will be determined by two things: the number of people that participate and the length of time your group spends bowling. The cost is per lane per hour. You may need to choose the length of bowling time based on your budget, especially if it is a tight one.
Remember Bowling Shoes
To eliminate cost for your employees, plan to pay for their bowling shoe rentals. Remember that people who bowl often in their off-work hours might already have shoes. Again, you can find this out by mentioning it in the invitation.
Rent a Party Room
Planet Bowl has several group party rooms you can use. Simply go to our website and choose the number in attendance. We will schedule the room for you and confirm your date and time during our working hours. Or, you can call us or come into Planet Bowl to secure your spot on our calendar.
Since we have a complete, full-sized kitchen, you can easily bring in food for your party. You can even heat up snacks or meals. You can provide hot or cold beverages to your guests and serve their food in the party room.
What is a holiday party without festive decorations? Set the scene however you like, with streamers, centerpieces or by hanging a few decorations on the walls. As long as you avoid damaging anything in the room, you are good to go! Remember to take your decorations with you after the party.
Let the Fun Begin!
Make sure key members of management get to the bowling center on time so you all can greet your guests when they arrive. Aim for a friendly evening without the need to dwell on work responsibilities. Encourage your employees to relax and enjoy their time as they socialize and engage in the fun activity of bowling.
There are people who do catering as a side business, almost as a hobby. Maybe they enjoy cooking and are quite good at it. And then someone asks them to cater a small event, and then they’re hooked. Other people, of course, do catering as a full time business and this can range from a small operation to a much larger business, capable of handling larger events. Whatever the background, whether you’re doing this as a hobby or as a full time business, it’s important to take good care of your customers. And this is particularly important for an event like a kid’s birthday party.
After all, a child’s birthday party is a very special event. And food plays a major part of the celebration. If the food is yummy, and the kids enjoy themselves, then that will make the party a much smoother and more memorable experience for all. However, if the kids don’t like the food, and especially if the birthday celebrant doesn’t like the food, then that’s going to make the party more disappointing. So there are some important things to keep in mind, for this type of event.
For instance, try to get information from the host regarding the favorite food of the birthday boy or girl. Ideally, they should already give this information to you from the very beginning. But sometimes the parents can get caught up in the preparations, so they forget these important details. Since your job is to make sure that the food works out great, make sure to ask for this key information. Then try to include these favorite foods in your menu.
Also, confirm with the host if you will be in charge of the birthday cake. Make sure that the agreement on this is very clear. Some parents will want you to come up with it. Others will intend to purchase it themselves separately. Find out what the birthday celebrant is into, as well as whether the party has a particular theme. Then work these ideas into the decorations of the cake. This will show your host that you are keeping track of the important details, and that you are making sure to personalize your service. As much as possible, try to get the parents to agree to the design of the cake before you create it. You want to make sure that your vision for how it should look is in harmony with theirs.
Another thing that you should do is prepare your staff for the fact that this is a birthday party for kids. This is particularly important if most of their experience has focused on catering for adults. Having dozens of kids running around and being rowdy at an event is a totally different story, so they should be aware of this and prepare accordingly. You will want to consider whether it is best to use materials and dishes which do not break easily, in case they are dropped. You might want to use tablecloths and other linens which are stain proof as well. The list of adjustments that you will need to make goes on.
A birthday party can be a very important time for a child. It’s an event that’s more or less completely devoted to him or her. People attend the event in order to see your son. Or your daughter knows that the food, decorations and more have been prepared because it’s her special day. This is a big deal because for all the other days of the year, your kid has to compete for attention with the rest of the family members, or other people. But when it’s your kid’s birthday, he or she knows that at least for that one day, your kid will be the focus of attention.
Since a birthday party is such an important event, it’s important to make it count. When you stop to think about it, you can see that you could technically have the rest of the year to prepare for the event. But you’ll only have one day to execute it. If things go well, then you’ve created something lovely and memorable for your child. But if it isn’t executed properly, then you’ll have to wait for another long year before you can try again. So in line with that, here are ten tips for you to consider, as you try to plan out your kid’s birthday party.
First birthday tip: Delegate what you can.
There will be a lot going on during the hours of the birthday party, and you’re just one person. Even if you want to micromanage the affair, there’s a good chance that you’re not going to be able to supervise everything well. That’s why you should look for things that you can delegate to responsible individuals or groups. So for example, consider whether it would be best to have the party catered. That way, you won’t need to worry about food as much.
Second birthday tip: Be there for your kid.
This goes hand in hand with the first bit of advice. There’s a good chance that your son or daughter will want to be able to have you somewhere nearby, during the party. Also, you’ll want to be able see if your kid is enjoying himself or herself. Don’t spend all your time in the kitchen or your home office.
Third birthday tip: Hire an official photographer if you can.
Or assign a good friend or relative to take pictures. There will be a lot of interesting things happening. You’ll want to make sure that it’s captured for people to appreciate even after the party.
Fourth birthday tip: Find out what kind of food your kid wants.
After all, the day is about him or her. So try to make sure that some of the favorite foods of your kid are on the menu.
Fifth birthday tip: Choose a good theme.
This doesn’t mean that you should go crazy with costumes and decorations. After all, you don’t want to go overboard. But having a consistent and subtle theme, ideally one that is linked to your kid, can help to make the event seem more polished. Check online for ideas for such themes.
Sixth birthday tip: Put the phone down, and encourage others to do the same.
It isn’t enough to be physically present. Make sure that work isn’t capturing all your attention through your phone or tablet. You can also tell your guests that there will be an official photographer, so they don’t feel the need to take pictures with their phones.
Seventh birthday tip: Plan useful party favors for other kids.
You might want to have little loot bags for the other younger ones. This can be a useful and practical thing to do, if you put a few small toys inside. This will give the kids something of their own to play with. So there’s less chance of kids fighting over toys at the party, children squealing or throwing tantrums, or less jealousy over the gifts that your kid gets.
Eighth birthday tip: Choose a good, decorative cake.
Remember that the cake isn’t just for eating. It’s also something decorative to show your child that his or her birthday is special. So make sure that it both tastes and looks the part.
Ninth birthday tip: Invite the right people.
If there is a kid who is a bully or a jerk to other kids, don’t invite him or her. Talk to your child about which friends and relatives he or she would like to invite. At the same time, do invite your own close friends and relatives, as a way of showing them that you want them to share in this part of your life.
Tenth birthday tip: Plan it out well in advance.
You don’t want to be putting out figurative fires, or running around confused on the day of the party. So don’t procrastinate, and don’t leave things until the last second. If you plan it well, you’ll be more relaxed and able to enjoy yourself on the day of the celebration.
Birthdays come only once a year. Hence, it should be celebrated in some way that can be remembered even as years go by. Parents and party organizers consider holding kids birthday in Mississauga because of its breathtaking views. Apart from that, this Canadian city offers a wide variation of venues to choose from with bowling centers being their first choice.
In preparation for the upcoming event, you must have knowledge of the 3 F’s that kids want to see on their birthday—food, fun games, and of course, their friends. Traditional birthdays are usually held at home, in school, or inside restaurants. Now if you are worrying about how you are going to find ways to revolutionize a children’s party, the answer is just around the corner.
Here’s a short yet comprehensive birthday party planning checklist to follow to make sure that the birthday celebrant and the guests will surely enjoy:
Celebrating a kids birthday party in Mississauga is such a great idea. Although throwing a party has never been easy from the very beginning, you can always change it by means of spending it somewhere new, some place where you won’t need to wash all the dishes and refill each guest’s glass when they become empty. When you are clueless on where to go, try going online and learn what kids usually anticipate to see on their special day.
While there are several bowling venues available, you can also book reservations for parties and company functions right on the webpage of the official host of bowling contests, known as Planet Bowl. Over here there are three available private rooms that can cater a maximum number of 16, 24, and 28 kids depending on your preference. By just filling out the online form, you can free yourself from the hassle of going door-to-door or checking out every site. Their customer support is available anytime any day, so queries can be addressed promptly. Make sure that you make reservations ahead of time to avoid conflicts.
How to Get There
You won’t have any trouble finding the facility, as it is strategically located along Eglinton Avenue, near the Centennial Park Golf Centre. If you are bringing your can on the occasion for a kids birthday party in Mississauga, looking for a space won’t be bothersome. There is a secure parking lot in the area, which can also be turned into an event site. If you are planning to commute, there are five Mississauga transits all pass along Orbitor Drive or Spectrum Way.
Food, Drinks, and More
The Kid’s Birthday Party Package is inclusive of the invites, an hour of bowling experience, and an hour at the party room. Since this package is applicable for a minimum of four guests, each guest will get to have a slice of pizza, popcorn, and a soft drink. Plus, you get to save $3.10 because the shoe rentals are already included.
With Planet Bowl, you never let a year elapse without letting your child feel that he or she is beyond special on their big day. This is truly a magical place when your child experiences happiness beyond measure and you get to organize that at a reasonable price.

Boys are overcharged, have lots of energy to waste and can get easily bored. But birthdays are special for boys and you just have to mention it to see the twinkle of excitement in their eyes. You can make that day even more special and memorable by just putting a little more effort into it. To entertain this battalion of little mischief-makers, you can get the party packed with fun.
Here are a few boys birthday party ideas that you can go for this summer for your son’s birthday party.
Heroes theme party
Boys love to play heroes and rescuers of maids in distress. From firefighters and cops to pilots and marines, the whole idea of completing an impossible mission will get them started. And of course, one can always have a costume party with guests, both boys and girls, dressed as their favorite super heroes – Batman, Spiderman, Superman, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Cat Woman, Wonder Woman, etc. You can have a cake in the shape of your boy’s favorite super hero and have super hero symbol icing on your cup cakes. Be creative with the invites as well; for example, go for super hero mask invites or pop-up invites. Comic books make great decoration and return-gift wrapping material. Color theme for the party has to be dark – red, black, dark shades of blue and green. For snacks, combine junk with super foods to balance it out! As for games, have a mask making
Camping theme party
Children love to be outdoors and having a birthday party with elements of camping thrown in is sure to be a hot favorite with all of them. You can plan it as a late evening party or even a sleep over; however, starting while there is still light outside will give the kids some time to play a few fun games as well. You will need to buy or rent some small tents that can be easily put up. Come evening and you can start the bonfire and a barbeque dinner followed by dancing to the boys’ favorite music. Some great games and activities for an outdoor party are darts, ten-pin bowling, wheel barrow racing, or depending on their age, target shooting with air guns, of course under your watchful eyes.
Pirates theme party
Heroes are great, but pirates, they are in a different league altogether! Let the kids have their very own pirate party with the birthday boy playing Capt. Jack Sparrow! Mention the theme in your invitation (perhaps a message in a bottle or a scull or pirate ship shaped card) and have a changing room for guests where they can perfect each other’s pirate looks, apart from their own. Make sure your boy has the pirate accessories like the eye patch, skull bead necklace, tattoos, scarf or hat and an earring for his outfit and help him get the pirrrrrate accent right! For inspiration, you can refer to any number of pirate movies – from Treasure Island to Pirates of the Caribbean. For décor, try to make a cardboard pirate ship and paint it like the Black Pearl! Don’t forget the crossbones symbol on the ship’s flag. You can place the ship as a centerpiece on the table if it isn’t too huge; else you can put it in side of the room. Some other tidbits must for your decorations are: net, gold and silver chocolate coins, toy swords and shield, sea shells, and a toy parrot. For snacks, you can have sea food or at least those that are shaped like it. Make fresh watermelon or any red fruit juice for the blood effect.
Everyone deserves to celebrate in style the one day in the whole year that is truly theirs – their birthday. Birthdays are even more special for kids who begin the countdown months before and are super excited by the time their birthday actually arrives. And if it’s a girl’s birthday, well, think pretty dresses and matching accessories that make them look and feel like the princesses from fairy tales that they so adore. So if you are planning a birthday party for your little girl or , why not have a theme for it that will make the day even more memorable for her and for her guests!
Here are some fun girls birthday party ideas to help you along:
Favorite Cartoon Character
Bring in your daughter’s birthday with her favorite characters: Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Dora, Princess Sofia, Alice, Cinderella, etc. You can send printed theme-based invites and ask your guests to dress up as your chosen character or if you are having a “dress up as your favorite character” party, ask everyone to just add an accessory that would help others identify which character they are dressed as. You can have theme-based cake, snacks and decoration for the venue. If you have chosen characters like Mickey and Donald, you can probably plan a Mickey Mouse Club House Party with a cartoon-quiz or a treasure hunt thrown in.
Girlie Fun Party
If it’s an all-girls party, let your little Divas (age group 5-7) have some girlie fun with a Barbie theme. In your invitation, ask each of your daughter’s friends to bring their favorite doll with a dress. You can plan activities around the dolls; they can wash the doll’s hair using mild shampoo, give them a new hairstyle (you can have a competition around it) and dress them up. This may seem like a little messy but you can ask each girl to use the bathroom sink one by one and tie a pink apron while they give the dolls a wash. Make sure you are present to supervise the process though. You can also add elements of a tea party to the event; take out your daughter’s toy tea set for the dolls and serve tea and tiny biscuit-based attractive snacks to the guests. Play Aqua’s I’m a Barbie Girl and other tracks for girls to dance on. All of this can be followed by the cake cutting with a Barbie-shaped cake or at least a cake with a pretty pink icing. For return gifts, you can have a small nail-art set or Barbie Pink nail polishes, or other such gifts as per your budget.
When the weather is just right, planning a garden party can be loads of fun for everyone involved. Ask everyone to have a head gear in the form of a butterfly, ladybug, caterpillar, birds or even flowers or any other creepy-crawly they are likely to encounter in a garden! This theme is perfect when you have both girls and boys as guests for the party. Try to be creative and have theme based colorful bug topping for your snacks (easy to achieve with cookies, bread and cup cakes) as well as the cake. You can have a small quiz where children have to guess the names of insects, birds and flowers based on clues.
Are you celebrating your birthday? Have you just been promoted and sharing the joy with friends? Well, whatever is the event, no party is complete without a delicious cake. However, a cake that tastes good is not enough for the guests and you want something more. So what is it that makes the cake incredible, yummy and the look of it would make you want to devour it? For one, the cake should be beautifully decorated. For example, kids love to have chocolates. On their birthday parties you can order a cake that is decorated with chocolates and gems. However, adults would like to go for something more subtle. Vanilla or strawberry cakes decorated in the shape of burgers or rugby balls would look awesome. Now all you have to do is blow out the candles and make a wish! Here’s our list of our favourite 10 best birthday cakes of all time! With cakes so yummy we wish every day is our birthday.

If you’re traveling with kids you’re probably looking for things for kids to do in Mississauga, even if it’s just an evening out.
Mississauga is located just west of Toronto and Toronto’s major international airport, Pearson International Airport, falls within Mississauga city limits, making Mississauga a top city choice for travelers to book hotels. This is especially true if you’ve flown down to see the incredible Niagara Falls with your kids. Niagara Falls is just 105 kilometres from Mississauga and takes approximately 1.5 hours to get there by car.
If you live in Mississauga and you found this post while searching for things for kids to do in Mississauga you’re probably aware of some local attractions but there might be some places you might have overlooked that we cover here. Kids love action and games! Be sure to check out the Playdium, just north of Square One mall. It houses everything from arcade games to mini-golf to go-carting and more!
For a fine shopping experience look no further than Square One mall which offers shopping stores of all the major brands including eclectic stores you might not find elsewhere. Fine dining is also nearby with North American classic restaurants like Jack Astors, Moxie’s Classic Grill and Fazoolis.
